We are quickly approaching the 21st April which means the start of the 2018 Palace Shield season is nearly upon us!
The 1st XI take on Whittle Le Woods 1st XI away at Kem Mill Lane, whilst the 2nd XI are at home vs Whittle 2s.
There have been plenty of changes in personnel, with James Ainscough and Bobby Bolton moving to Dubai & Australia respectively. Sam Jones has moved on to Cherry Tree in the Ribblesdale League.
Incoming, we have Ryan Wells, a sharp pace bowler and hard hitting batsman, previously with Garstang. Also joining are David Harrison from New Longton and Olly Mason, a Sussex man who like to give the ball a smash!
Most pleasing are the juniors that are making strides to push into senior cricket and this season, we have more players pushing to make an impact like Aaron Aiton has done over the last couple of seasons.
With the Sunday team, under Pete Ingham’s leadership, getting under way on 22nd April at home to Gregson Lane, there is plenty of early opportunity for players to cement a place in their respective teams.
So, lets hope the weather improves, and that we get our pre season friendly in on the 14th April at home to Bretherton from the Soutport & District League.
