2 out of 3 ain’t bad

1st XI made it 2 wins in a row for the 1st time this season by beating BAC/EE Preston 1st XI.  Dale skipper Ainscough won the toss and asked BAC to bat 1st.  They struggled to 127-8 off 45 overs, excellent bowling by all of the bowling attack but Curt Morris was the pick with 4-22 off 10.  Imran Jangar topped scored for BAC with 26.

Dale took their time over the chase, recovering from losing Curt Morris and Ainscough for single figures.  Nazife and Williams ground their way towards the total and then Alex Cuffin saw his team over the line with 25 not out.

2nd XI lost to a strong Chorley 3rd XI.  Boosted by news that there could be 4 potential promotion spots in Division5, Dale were asked to bowl first by Chorley.  Ross Demming made 95 not out as Chorley posted 183-7 off 45.

Dale struggled with their reply, Imran Paladiwala with a quick fire 30 was the only highlight as they were bowled out for 114.

Sunday XI were awarded their 2nd game in a row after Cherry Tree couldn’t raise a side.

A Great Weekend!

1st XI produced a vintage display against Wrea Green 1st XI.  Batting 1st they set 203-9, Captain Ainscough with a quick fire 71 off 75 balls.  Ed Brown smashed 2 large 6’s on his way to 34 not out of 29 balls at the end.  Wrea Green never settled when they batted, the accuracy of Brown and raw pace of Mac Morris proving to be too much.  John Taylor and Gareth Winstanley mopped up the tail to record a great win.

2nd XI had a much easier day, bowling BAC/EE Preston 2nd XI out for 33.  Imran Paladiwala with 4-3 off 9 overs but all the bowlers contributed.  Dale knocked it off 3 down inside 12 overs.

Sunday XI were awarded their game against Croston as they couldn’t raise a side making it a perfect weekend.

Mixed Fortunes

1st XI lost at fellow division 2 strugglers Tarleton.  Batting 1st they set 175-8, Curt Morris with an excellent 80.  At one point it looked like 200 was on but a mini collapse ended those hopes.  It proved to be costly as Tarleton managed to reach the target in the 44th over, despite the best efforts of the Dale bowling attack.

2nd XI managed a win however, local rivals Hoghton setting 107 to win.  Dale knocked it off 6 down on a bowling wicket, Hoghton made it a tricky chase.  Captain Neil Harvey top scoring with 21.

Bad Day at the Office

Both teams were handed a spanking by Standish last Saturday.  Undefeated Standish 1st XI batted first and racked up 242-4 off their 45 overs.  Usman Khushnood continued his dominance of Division 2 with an excellent 101 not out.  Dale were left rueing several dropped catches on what was a flat batting deck.  Dale collapsed to 75 all out, only captain James Ainscough with any meaningful contribution.

2nd XI were unable to make a decent total (107 all out) which was never going to be enough on a decent Standish wicket.  Standish 2nd XI knocked it off 4 down inside 17 overs.
